Why a winder
A watch is not really about telling the time.
If it were, you would use your phone. A watch you chose carefully is about the second you reach for it. The weight of it. The click of the clasp. The fact that it is still running from yesterday, and the day before.
A stopped watch takes that away. Now it is a task: wind it, set it, wait for it to catch up. Nobody buys a beautiful machine hoping to do admin for it.
So we built the thing that quietly removes the task. You open the case and it is alive. That is the entire product.
Inspired to Preserve
Preserving is not the same as storing.
Storing a watch lets it run down its power reserve, stop, lose its date, and sit there waiting to be useful again.
Preserving means the movement keeps moving. It means the watch is held, not squeezed. It means that when the door opens, the dial is upright at twelve and the watch is already running.
You open the case, the watch is already running, and you put it on. That is the whole idea.
The standard
High standards, and no apology for them.
Every Nate is the sum of small, deliberate choices. The silence of the motor. The weight of the chassis. The feel of the finish. None of them show up in a product photograph, and all of them show up the moment you own one.
We also believe you should not have to break the bank for something made properly. Those two things are supposed to be in tension. We spend most of our time refusing to accept that.
