If the person owns an automatic (self-winding) watch they do not wear every day, yes. Off the wrist an automatic runs on its power reserve and then stops; a winder keeps it moving between wears, so it is running when it is picked up. A quartz (battery) watch does not need one.
Look for "automatic" or "self-winding" in the watch’s name, papers or manual. If it takes a battery, it is quartz.
Nate Go for one everyday watch (pre-programmed, USB-C or two AA batteries). Nate Meridian Uno for the one watch that matters most (glass door, returns to 12 o’clock). Nate Meridian Triad for three watches, each with its own settings.
Every Nate holder fits cases up to 60 mm. The Go holder takes bracelet, leather, rubber or NATO straps.
The Meridian has a direction dial and five turns-per-day settings (650 to 1950) for each watch; the Go is pre-programmed.
On Amazon US — Nate Go, Nate Meridian Uno, Nate Meridian Triad, Nate Dawn (Black) and Nate Dawn (Blue).
They won't have to remember it. Every Nate arrives with the Guide — setup, settings and care, in plain language, written to be kept in the drawer rather than thrown away with the box. There is a welcome card too, and it is not from us. It is about the watch.
